Ministry to Community Web Site
Pastors/Ministers: Each Pastor/Minister of the TOT Association

How do you help the local Church reach into the local community?

OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS WE WILL USE THIS SITE TO MINISTER THROUGH MINISTERS TO COMMUNITIES.

For Instance: One community realized that a large portion of the town they were located in was full of divorced people. They had a “How to Parent in a Single Parent Home.” They opened it to the community and had a beginning and ending time that could be attended by a working mother or father. They had five single parents show up from the community along with Church family. The focus was not on coming to Church, but on what the Bible said about training Children in a Godly atmosphere. They dealt with questions that single parent families have to deal with. They believe the community has a good attitude toward that Church because the Church showed support although the effort was minimal. They placed articles in the local paper and put out flyers and advertized on the radio. Now three of the five single parent families have been faithful to come and bring their children to Church and Sunday School. They have not joined yet, but the Church is making a difference.

Would you be willing to share with me the things that you are doing or you have heard has been done to touch a community as a Church? I will ask you to answer at least these three things before you send this back to me.

  1. How has this benefited your community?
  2. How much effort and leadership is needed on your part?
  3. What is the end result with the time you have invested into this project?

Once you send these to me I will be putting this on the web as a new slot for our ministers to look at. We all need ideas and whatever is helpful for you is helpful for others. If you borrowed this from someone else then I would suggest we give credit where credit is due.  Thanks for your response.

 1. While I have not attempted this there is a group that is at work with a good idea. How about this for a community?

Thank you for your response and prayers regarding the needs and challenges of teens in our area. Now that we have a better idea of issues to target, we would like to start a group that will focus on self-worth.  The curriculum will be based on Robert McGee’s Search for Significance – Student Edition. On Monday, June 7th at 10:00 a.m., we will have an introductory meeting with the teens to discuss the layout and goals of the group. We would like the group to run 12 weeks.  The first week will be no charge to the participants, and each week after the fee will be $20.00 per session per participant. We would like to start this group with girls ranging in age from 14 to 17. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions, concerns, or input.
